Location

Crofton is a commuter village of around 7,000 residents, located three miles south of Wakefield, West Yorkshire. Ideally positioned near the M1, A1, and M62 motorways, it offers convenient access to major cities: 25 minutes to Leeds, 30 minutes to Sheffield, and about an hour to Manchester and Hull.

Facilities

Surrounded by open countryside, Crofton offers a full range of local amenities, including: a modern health centre, two primary schools, and one high school. There are also numerous shops, including several local supermarkets.

The village also boasts a community centre, a community library, and a traditional Working Men’s Club.

Sports & Recreation

A large sports field sits at the heart of the village, while several scenic country parks and walking routes are just a short walk or drive away.

Transport

Crofton has excellent public transport links, with multiple bus routes passing through the village every 15 minutes. National train services are available from Wakefield’s main station, offering direct connections to London, Birmingham, and the South West.

The village is also conveniently close to the M1, M62, and A1 motorways for car travel.

Local Attractions

The area has a rich cultural heritage. Nostell Priory, a Georgian house maintained by the National Trust is a short walk away. Pontefract offers a historic castle and a racecourse just 7 miles away.
