National Politics

Crofton is in the Normanton and Hemsworth Parliamentary Constituency. John Tricket has been the Labour Member of Parliament (MP) for Hemsworth since a by-election in 1996. The constuency changed to the Normanton and Hemsworth constituency at the 2024 General election.

Wakefield Council

The village is in the Wakefield Council area and is represented by three councillors, Usman Ali, Maureen Cummings and Faith Heptinstall.

Parish Council

There is a Crofton Parish Council which supports activities within the village.
