The War Memorial opposite the Cock & Crown was built after World War One (WW1) but appears on our selection of maps for the first time.

The Miners Welfare sports ground off Middle Lane is clearly marked, as is the Club on Slack Lane. A Cricket Ground is shown south of Hill Farm/Manor farm.

The new railway branch and sidings on The Sidings are now complete, and Sharlston West’s rail infrastructure had expanded significantly. A new link line has been added between Oakenshaw and Crofton Station.

New allotment gardens are marked north of "The Lump" and in the current location off Hare Park Lane. Again these appear on maps produced after WW1.

Note that the date of the Manor Farm building is marked as AD1669. This is what we now know as the Lord of the Manor public house.

A new "Rectory" is marked off Hare Park Lane.

Within Crofton Park, a Lodge is marked at the end of the avenue of trees, and a Boat House at the end of the Fish pond.
