Rainbows, is the section of the Guiding Association aimed at girls aged between 5 and 7.

Started in 1987, Rainbows was initiated because girls objected to having to wait until they were 7 in order to join Brownies.  Crofton has had a Rainbow Unit for 10 years.  It is hoped that after being a Rainbow, girls will then progress to Brownies and Guides.

In Crofton we meet on a Monday night between 5.30 and 6.30.

At regular Rainbow meetings we do craft activities, play games, sing, make noise and generally run off some energy!  We also have end of year and Christmas themed parties.

There are also trips out organised by the Wakefield branch of the Guiding Association.  We have been to a Teddy Bears Picnic, Cannon Hall Park, a ‘Rainbow’ themed activity afternoon, and in September this year Crofton Rainbows went to the Circus.  We also participate, together with all the other Rainbows, Brownies and Guides in Wakefield at the annual Guiding Thinking Day service at Wakefield Cathedral.

We do fortunately/unfortunately(?) have a waiting list.  Therefore should you wish your daughter to join Rainbows, we suggest you contact us before they are 5.
