1. The minutes of the last
meeting, dated 8th July 2002, were agreed to be a true and accurate
record.
2. Update on action points
from site meeting.
·
Tony Conway (parks manager) has been e-mailed with regard to getting rid
of the shrubbery. No response as yet.
·
It was decided to keep the site on different levels as it will cost too
much to level the site. We do, however,
need to make the site more open with fewer places to hide.
·
Sharon asked about the councils policy on ‘risk’, which is to follow
‘r.o.s.p.a’ guidelines. An element of
risk is to be included in the design plans.
3. School visits
·
Arthur Ripley has seen the deputy head at the high school and has agreed
a meeting with Julian to go ahead and work with the school.
·
Julian has been in contact with Slack Lane Junior
School and reports that
things look pomising.
·
Julian and the others are to go into schools asap.
·
Julian has decided not to do the design before input has been given by
the local children.
·
Julian plans to go into school assemblies and ask the children to come
up with ideas; have follow up visits and a possible competition. The idea is to get all age groups to come up
with designs.
·
16th September 10.15 at Shay Lane, Sharon and Arthur to come
along. To meet at 9.45 am at school.
Also possibly Paul to come.
4. Next meeting to be held on
Monday 7th October at 7 pm in the Infant building of Shay Lane
Primary School.
5. Any other business.
Fundraising and publicity.
·
Millenni-Mums has pointed out a lack of interest in the bonus ball and
suggested it be discontinued.
·
Fund raising ideas include a race night, barbecue, family disco and
jumble sale. Millenni-Mums have offered
to advertise and collect jumble etc, however Shay Lane Primary School are doing
something on a similar theme in the next couple of weeks.
·
Mr Wright offered the school hall for a coffee morning. Arthur said we may have to rent the hall,
but we can have the parish rooms.
·
It was agreed to continue to advertise in the Smoke Signal.
·
Cllr Beckett says he has got some money for the group, but Paula and Rob
say they haven’t received it -£750.
·
Cllr
Jeffery and Jon Trickett have reviewed the play areas and it looks as though
they hold Crofton as a high priority and will be retained. Paul thinks the
money for this year may have gone, however they will maintain the equipment
should we have to part buy it. Neighbourhood
renewal fund, of which Crofton, Ackworth and Rhyhill are in our ward, is due to
have its next funding in March next year.
·
Land fill
can offer up to £50,000 but we have to match 11% and need a third party to hand
the money over.
·
Julian
spoke about various grants we could apply for.
·
Money from opencast is still available, suggested put in a bid for £3000
which would meet the 11% for the other one.
·
Youth shelters have had some bad publicity in Outwood and are being
removed. Possible to include a skate
boarding park instead (at more cost).
·
Make up a wish list in map form, with the whole community and parish
council being involved.
·
We had to give away the Wildcat tickets as no one would buy them as the
season is nearly over.
