CROFTON CHILDREN’S PLAY AREAS ASSOCIATION

Minutes of the meeting on 11th November 2002.

 

Attendees: Paula Baker, Arthur Ripley, Paul Beckett, Julian Ellis, Sharon Gallagher, Duncan Thompson, Joan Helme, Bev Schofield, Christine Sinclair.

Apologies:   David Wright, Robert Baker, Marie Binns, Andrea Martin,  Helen Tate.

 

1.   MINUTES 7TH OCTOBER

·       Agreed.  Proposed by Arthur Ripley and Christine Sinclair.

2.   MATTERS ARISING

·       Jez Horsley has passed on info prepared by Crofton High School children.  Julian to follow up and contact Jez Horsley.

·       Analysis of children’s work has started.  Thanks to Sharon and Paula.

·       Cheque presented by Councillor Paul Beckett from WMDC Community Club for group start up fees.

·       Bid gone to Liaison Committee responsible for administrating the Fund from UK Coal for Open Casting.

·       Play group – Helen to be asked to encourage playgroup to participate in the project.

3.   UPDATE ON WEB SITE (PHOTOGRAPHS)

·       Crofton.org.uk is site to find 3 pages on Play Area.  Look under groups.

·       Sharon has asked if meeting of group to be included as diary of events.

4.   UPDATE ON DESIGNS HANDED IN SO FAR

·       Most in now.  Wide variety of ideas.  Plan to get collated for next meeting.

5.   MEETING WITH WAKEFIELD MDC (ALAN AYRE)

·       Land ownership discussed confirmation WMDC own land will be prepared to lease to group.  Standard procedure will have to be followed.  Advertising / Agreeing Rent / Agreeing terms and conditions.

·       Fair share will fund 3 years maintenance.  Further grants may be available from other organisation / agencies to fund maintenance.

·       Planning application may be required.

·       Group raised concerns about level of lease and liabilities they may be asked to take on.  Negotiation with WMDC will have to be made.

·       Councillor Beckett to enquire if peppercorn rent are available.  He confirmed that at his meeting with Councillor Mrs Jeffery and Allan Smith that they support the work of the group.

·       To take forward: -

 -   Draw up plans to be actioned as soon as all children’s designs are received.
 -   Investigate Fair Share.  Group to attend meeting Friday 15th November 10-1pm.
 -   Paul Beckett to meet with Alan Ayre to discuss groups concerns.

·       Collapse of committee.   The Group’s constitution should consider this event.

6.   ANY OTHER BUSINESS

·       Coffee Morning and Jumble Sale.  Paul to organise.  Aim for 8th February.  Group to contact John Shillitoe to confirm dates at Parish Room.

·       Shrubs report to Tony that these should be removed and not pruned.

·       Group concerned about security.  People hide behind these.
