Cllr Jacques welcomed Darren Byford as the Acting Clerk.
A presentation was to
Cllr Graham Jackson for his 50 years of services to the
WMDC Cllr Cummings
was presented with a bouquet of flowers as a 'Thank you' for her work and
support as Acting Clerk, during the Clerks absence.

PC McMahon and PC Daley gave a written report on the work of
West Yorkshire Police's

05/93 WARD COUNCILLORS REPORT
WMDC Cllr Cummings reported
The planned Youth
Project was being delayed until June 2005. The grant application had now been
made. A traffic survey by the Cock & Crown public house was to be carried
out.
WMDC Cllr Isherwood reported
• WYP would
be holding their next surgery in Crofton.
• The issue of the footpath at the end
of Slack Lane had now been resolved and would be made into a full footpath
between Pinfold Lane and Doncaster Road
• The new
signs for the rail bridge were progressing
• The 3 ward Councillor's were now all
portfolio holders, Cllr Isherwood ‑ Environment, Cllr Manifield ‑Regeneration
and Cllr Cummings was deputy Community Safety and Neighbourhoods.
Issues Raised
• It was noted that Cllr Manifield
was investigating the help available from Wakefield MDC for refurbishment of
the village War Memorial
• Cllr Isherwood also stated that he
would investigate and report to the relevant WM13C Officer, the issue of rats
that had been seen at the beck at the rear of Ashdene.
• Cilr Cummings agreed to look at the
issue of blocked footpaths within the village, caused by the installation of
the new lamp standards.
• Cllr Chalkley raised the issue of a
provision of a 'kissing gate' between Wentworth and Priory Ridge; this stop off
road bikes. District Cllr's Cummings and Isherwood noted the request
05/94 PUBLIC SESSION
Two residents
addressed the Council and gave details of their new allotment and their future
plans. They requested help in the disposal of the mountain of rubbish and
general waste material that they had inherited with the allotment. It was
agreed that this matter would be investigated and reported back in due course.

05199 MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD 19 April 2005
Minutes Approved.
Proposed by Cllr Ripley and Seconded by Cllr Bennett.
05/100 MATTERS ARISING FOR INFORMATION ONLY
The provision of a
new village notice board was discussed. Subject to planning approval it would
be situated adjacent to the wall on the Old Library site. Cllr Bennett stated
he would make enquires regarding the planning implications.
A quotation would be
obtained for suitable fencing to be used to form a boundary around the parish
cemetery. It was noted that the fencing should be in keeping with the area. A
plan would be provided for the Clerk to obtain a quote.
The Clerk was asked
to obtain the name and address of the local Scout Master and write to request
that the scout hut area be tidied and cleaned up. Further more a request be
made for the Scout Master to attend a forthcoming Council meeting.
Yorkshire Electricity
be asked to tidy and clean out their sub station on the ginnel leading from
Slack Lane to Church Way and the sub station in High Street.

05/101 COMMUNITY FACILITIES ‑ CONVENORS REPORTS
A ‑ Parish Centre
The electrical work is still outstanding.
B ‑ Village Association
A price has been
obtained for materials and labour for the work to be carried out on the
Village Association buildings. External lighting is a
problem and needs reviewing. Cllr
Bennett to be authorised to implement the electrical work.
It was noted that the
cricket outfield was in need of cutting.
051102 ALLOTMENTS
It was reported that
0 3 gardens had been allocated, however they were still
apparently owned by Mrs Brown
0 Rats had been reported, treatment was now underway
0 2 Allotments were in need of major rubbish removal
* The allotment referred to in 05/94,
was agreed that this would be rent free for the first 12 months. This was due
to the amount of clearing the new owners had to clear.
051103 CEMETERY
It was reported that
• Grass cutting was
up to date
• Hedges were to be
cut back
• Boundary fence had
been repaired It was noted that on Tuesday 3rd May the cemetery was neat and
tidy for the Councillors visit
051104 SPECIAL SERVICES
There was no report
051105 ROAD TRAFFIC ISSUES
It was reported that
WY Police would leaflet Slack Lane regarding illegal parking on double yellow
lines causing traffic problems.
051106 CROFTON WAR MEMORIAL
This to be an agenda
item for the September 2005 meeting, and that plans should be made to hold a
'memorial service' in November.
051107 CLEANSING
It was noted that
WMDC were carrying out mechanical sweeping on a regular basic in the village
051108 PLANNING
Members discussed applications before them.
Resolved:
that no action is
necessary
The ongoing issue of
Public Enquiry on the reclamation site was raised. The Clerk agreed to speak
with District Cllr Cummings and report back.

051109 FINANCIAL MATTERS
See June 2005 Minutes for
Financial Statement
Resolved that with the exception of the payment to PHS all above
payments are agreed.
The Clerk was asked
to contact Barclays Bank asking them to attend a Council meeting and take the
necessary steps to add all Councillors as signatories to our bank accounts.
Should Barclays not respond positively, the acting Clerk to investigate a
change to Unity Bank and make arrangements for bank representatives to attend a
Council meeting.
05/100 APPLICATION FOR GRANT
NOSTELL MINERS GIRLS FOOTBALL CLUB
Resolved.. That the Council in accordance with its powers under
Sections 137 and 139 of the Local Government Act, 172 should incur the
following expenditure, which in the opinion of the Council is in the interests
of the area or its inhabitants and will benefit them in a manner commensurate
with the expenditure of the amount set out below.
Contribution to equipment maintenance £300.00
A letter would be
requested from the group, confirming that the contribution would be used
towards the purchase of new equipment.

051113 DATE AND TIME OF NEXT MEETING
Resolved:
that the next meeting
of the Parish Council is held on Tuesday 21 June 2005
which will commence at 7pm in Crofton High School, High
Street, Crofton.
An extra meeting of
the Council would be held on Tuesday 31 May 2005 to conclude unfinished
business.
