The chairman Councillor P Jacques presided over the
meeting.
05/50
P C McMahon circulated a written report and updated
members on actions taken on their behalf and priorities addressed during February
2005. There had been 15 crimes in total
during that period with a total of 59 hours in the village. The Police in
conjunction with Trading Standards officers had conducted a test purchase in
the village which had led to a fixed penalty being issued of £80, this should
send a message around the village that selling to the underage will not be
tolerated. The Church Yard had received
attention but on the whole was quiet. Incidents of children walking out in
front of cars were reported this will be dealt with through the Highways Road
Safety Team. Diversionary works with
youths on Thursdays was working well. P
C McMahon was working alongside Councillor Maureen Cummings to try and secure
the sports hall in
Resolved that PC McMahan and Daley are thanked for their reports,
their efforts to work with the children in the village were approved and the
Parish Council looks forward to positive feedback.
The priorities for March 2005 were confirmed.
05/51 WARD
COUNCILLORS REPORT
Councillor
Isherwood reported:

Discussions were taking place with regard to the
installation of sensors and flashing warning signs at the

The bench on Bedford Close had now been approved for
removal and this was expected over the next few days.
·
A recent joint surgery with the Police and District
Councillors had been held in Havercroft, the Police were anxious to do a
similar event in Crofton to which all Parish Councillors would be invited.
·
The Neighbourhood Action team had commenced work in
Crofton 14th March and all the issues raised by the Parish Council
had been included.

lights and gates to deter youth congregation to the rear.

Minute 05/32 PHS did not turn up for the arranged
meeting
Minute 05/40 To point out that Mrs Hardwick was added to
the list as receiving her salary by Standing Order.
Minute 05/43 c) The builders are Hanover Developments,
Crigglestone.
Resolved: that
the Clerk writes to Hanover Developments and asks them to clear away
the pipes
and rubbish that has been left following recent building works.

05/57 COMMUNITY FACILITIES – CONVENORS REPORTS
Parish Centre – Electrical
Inspection required
Village Association –
Pavilion Electrical Report identified several areas of concern.
Resolved 1) that a
quotation is sought for the electrical works required and in consultation with
the Chairman the works are carried out.
2) That the Village Association are thanked for their donation to the
Parish Council of £3,500
05/58 ALLOTMENTS
Resolved that
this item is taken under Private Matters.
05/59 CEMETERY
The grass
has now begun to grow and cutting is required to commence. There is also an accumulation of rubbish
around the bin areas.
Resolved: that the Clerk instruct T&D Contractors to
commence cutting and to clear away the debris.
05/60 SPECIAL SERVICES

05/61 ROAD TRAFFIC ISSUES
The
results of the recent survey had been circulated to all members.
Resolved: that
the Clerk contacts the District Council regarding the speed survey along High
Street and instructs that the follow up survey is done as a matter of urgency
and that full width speed measures are introduced along the full length of High
Street.
05/62 CROFTON WAR MEMORIAL

05/63 CLEANSING

trees in the High School grounds were felt to be dangerous, however following
discussion Councillor Towns reported that someone from the District Council had
been to inspect the trees.

accumulation to the rear and side of

Skidmore to see if this can be removed.

Councillor
Bennett had on the Parish Councils behalf completed the Spatial Development
Strategy document and returned it to the District Council.

Councillor Bennett is thanked for his time and efforts on behalf of the Parish
Council .
